Gene Johnston of Shelbyville will celebrate his 80th birthday on November 7.

Gene was born in Shelby County on November 7, 1929 to Paul and Ruby Johnston. He spent most of his life in Shelbyville, IL working in the grocerybusiness at A&P Grocery store, co-owner of Gene & Barney’s Grocery store and owner of Gene’s Bi-rite Grocery store all in Shelbyville. He is now retired and is a big St. Louis Cardinal Fan.

Gene married Joyce Pinkston, daughter of Harley and Muriel Pinkston on July, 23, 1950 in Mode, IL. Together they are the parents of Debbie Perryman of Mt. Zion, IL, Brenda (Richard) West of Mattoon, IL and David (Sandy) Johnston of Shelbyville, IL. A daughter, Pam Butler is deceased.

He has eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.

He really enjoys receiving mail. Cards may be sent to Gene Johnston, 413 West North Seventh Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
