Knobs Pastor to be honored

Shelbyville Daily Union

---- — The Knobs Baptist Church is honoring their Senior Pastor, Randy Miller. Sunday, January 5, marks 20 years of faithful service as pastor, and there will be an open house at the church beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Randy Miller and his family came to Knobs Baptist in rural Tower Hill in January of 1994. Pastor Miller is an Illinois native. He was born and raised in the Peoria area, growing up in Benton. Upon graduating from High School, Randy worked at a grain elevator near Benton, with plans to attend college shortly thereafter. On his last day of work, at lunch time, there was a terrible explosion. A gas leak under the break room ignited causing the explosion. Randy was seriously injured and spent weeks in the burn unit. He later said that God used that event to redirect his life, and convince him that he must be a minister of the Gospel.

The next school year Randy enrolled in the Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the leadership of Pastor and President Dr. Lee Roberson. Upon completing his degree Randy was invited to serve as a youth pastor in Michigan. Eventually, he was invited to serve on staff of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga. Just prior to his service in Chattanooga, Randy married his wife Mildred on March 14th 1987. Randy served a number of years under his mentor and role-model, Dr. Roberson before answering the call to Pastor the Knobs Baptist Church. Pastor Miller and his wife, Mildred, have four children, Brittney Miller Wren of Tampa, Florida, Nathaniel Miller of Virginia Beach, Virginia attending Law School, Stephen Miller of Powell, Tennessee attending Bible college, and Courtney Miller of Pensacola, Florida attending Bible college.

In the years since his coming to Knobs the church has experienced many blessings. Pastor Miller has been a faithful man for 20 years, and the people of Knobs Baptist are very thankful to have him for their Pastor.

Those who know Pastor Miller and would like to attend the celebration are invited to the church on Sunday, January 5, at 4:30 p.m. with a service to follow. The Knobs Baptist Church is located 3 miles north of Tower Hill on the Knobs Church Rd. Please call Pastor Adam for more information or directions to the church at 217-825-8653.
