---- — EFFINGHAM — Eldon Gourley of Mattoon was recognized by the C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation Board of Directors during a recent meeting in Effingham. Gourley was honored for over fifteen years of dedicated volunteer service and loyalty to the agency while serving on the C.E.F.S. Board of Directors. Board Chairperson Jean Finley presented Gourley with a plaque and certificate of appreciation for his C.E.F.S. board service.
Eldon Gourley was designated to serve on the C.E.F.S. Board of Directors by the Shelbyville Kiwanis Club beginning October 2, 1997 representing the private sector for Shelby County. Eldon Gourley was a devoted member and officer of the C.E.F.S. Board of Directors and served as the 2nd Vice-Chairperson. In addition, Gourley was an active member of the executive, finance/audit, membership, personnel and economic development and employment committees and also contributed his financial expertise to serve as the board representative with fiscal management or accounting experience to meet Head Start Act regulations. Gourley stated, “I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on the C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation Board of Directors representing the organization and serving the needs, interests and well-being of the low-income.”
Chief Executive Officer Paul White stated, “Eldon Gourley was a loyal and dedicated board member who was a great client advocate for Shelby County and his voluntary service to our organization will be greatly missed.”
C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation is a not-for-profit, community action agency providing comprehensive human service programs for the low and moderate income individuals in Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Shelby, Moultrie, Christian and Montgomery counties.
