An open house will be held in celebration of Marjorie (Pogue) Christman’s 90th birthday on Sunday, July 13, from 2 - 5 p.m. at Shelby County Senior Center, Forest Park, East North 9th Street, Shelbyville.
Marjorie was born July 14, 1924, on a country farm in Pickaway Township just northwest of Findlay and graduated from Findlay High School. She married Norman Christman on May 11, 1952, and honeymooned in Estes Park, Colorado. During their marriage, Norman’s job took them from their first home in Illinois to many other places: Kansas, New York, Australia, and Michigan, then returning to retire in Shelbyville. Wherever the move took them, Marjorie made a wonderful home for her family with good home cooking, special request birthday cakes, beautiful holiday treats and traditions and well-tended flowers in the yard. She sewed dozens of dresses for their four daughters, and some for herself as well. If there was an arboretum or botanical garden nearby, it was the object of family outings. Above all else, she brought her family up to know there is a God who loves us.
Her daughters are Diane Jahnes of Hopewell, Ohio, Connie Inabinet of Charleston, South Carolina, Sheri Figge of Westfield, Indiana, and Susan Wilks of Norman, Indiana. She has been blessed with twenty beautiful grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She requests no gifts. Cards may be sent to 1901 E. 1500 N. Rd. Shelbyville, Illinois 62565-4522
