SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Friese of Stewardson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
Kenneth Friese and Sandra Thomas were married March 1, 1962, at the Strasburg United Methodist Church in Strasburg by the Rev. Orval Bear.
He is a rural mail carrier and a Korean War veteran. She is a semi-retired secretary/receptionist for the Niebrugge Agency, American Family Insurance in Effingham and an avid member of the Sassy Classics Red Hat Society and the COWS organization in Stewardson.
Mr. and Mrs. Friese have spent their lives in Stewardson serving their community in many ways. Most recently they served on the committee and to help raise funds to erect the Stewardson Veterans Memorial, and were in charge of gathering the names of eligible veterans. They are members of the Wilbur Braughton American Legion and Auxiliary Post 611 and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson.
They are the parents of two children: Dorene Sparks of St. Louis, MO, and Scott Friese of Stewardson. They have five grandchildren.
