Gladys Martin of Decatur will celebrate her 102nd birthday with a party on November 24 at Eagle Ridge of Decatur, 875 W. McKinley Avenue.
She was born in Lakewood November 27, 1911. She married Lyle Street November 20, 1932. He is deceased. She married John Martin on October 8, 1967. He is deceased. She is the mother of five children: Darrell Street of Forsyth, Nancy (Jack) Brown of Decatur, John Street of Shelbyville; Glenn and Duane, who are both deceased. She has 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren.
After leaving Lakewood, she lived in Findlay until the mid 1950s. She worked as a telephone operator in Lakewood and at the hairpin factory in Shelbyville, made parachutes during WWII, then worked at the GE factory in Decatur before retiring from the Central Supply department at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
