Catch the Fire Church to Open Sunday

CNHI

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — A new non-denominational church will open its doors Sunday in Cowden.

The Catch the Fire Church, pastored by Kyle Blackerby, will hold its first service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Cowden Community Building.

“We’ll be holding services at the Community building until we get our own building,” Blackerby said.

Blackerby and his wife  Heather have been evangelists for the past five years, ministering in various countries as well as the U.S. Heather is a graduate of Cowden-Herrick High School. They have two children Konner and MacKenzie.

“We just felt God telling us to settle down and start a church,” Blackerby said. “We especially want to relate to young people - high school age and young adults. We want people to experience God in a new fresh way.”

The services will be more contemporary with a live band playing contemporary music.
