On January 30, 2014, Lisa Parker represented the Central A&M FFA Chapter at the District IV FFA Job Interview CDE at Lake Land College.
Lisa competed against 10 FFA members from all across Distict IV. The Job Interview Career Development Event is designed for the participants to develop, practice and demonstrate skills needed in seeking employment in the agricultural industry. Each part of the event simulates “real world” activities that will be used by real world employers.
This event is developed to help participants in their current and future job search (for SAE projects, part-time and full-time employment). The cover letter, resume, and references submitted by the participants must reflect their current skills and abilities and must be targeted to an agriculturally related job for which they would like to apply. They are expected to target their resume towards a real job for which they can qualify.
At the contest each contestant goes through four areas; a personal interview in front of a panel of judges, a phone interview, they fill out a job application and write a follow-up letter to their interview.
Lisa was named the fourth place individual in the district and advanced to the State Job Interview CDE which will be held Saturday, February 8, at Western Illinois University. Lisa prepared her information based on her experience with Veterinary Medicine. Lisa worked extremely hard and did an outstanding job.
