Preschool Roundup at Okaw Valley

Okaw Valley Preschool roundup

If your child is between the ages of birth to five years old the Okaw Valley School District and Project H.E.L.P. will offer free preschool screenings March 5 and 6 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 219 S. Lincoln, Bethany.

The free screening is to see how your child is developing in the areas of concepts, motor, speech and language. The free developmental screening lasts about one hour.

Stew-Stras to host dodgeball tournament

The Stewardson-Strasburg Schools are hosting Thunderstruck! Dodgeball double elimination tournament on Saturday, March 15, beginning at 10 a.m.

There will be divisions for Jr. High, High School, and adult. Teams may have 6 to 10 members and team members must wear the same color shirt.

The registration fee is $10 per person and is due by Friday, March 7. Cash prizes will be awarded to the Champions of each division.

Lunch and baked items will be sold. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.

Writer featured at 1st Sunday Sing

March 2, First Sunday Sing at Flourishes Gallery and Studios, will feature a creative writer and more.

John Maclean Enright, 16 years old and very talented in writing, will read to attendees. He writes science fiction, Doctor Who in particular. His science fiction based writing commonly uses emotions and/or analysis of thought and personality for the reader or listener to relate to characters and situations. Maclean also likes reading, writing, running, swimming at the pool and studying history and the workings of personalities and minds of people of the past and present.

The public is welcome to meet and hear Maclean as well as some music and drama starting at 3 p.m. at 140 ½ E. Main in downtown Shelbyville.
