Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation announces 2014 scholarship program

---- — Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation is pleased to announce its 2014 scholarship program. Twenty-two scholarships will be awarded in the spring.

The Chris Barker Family will be giving away four (4) $1,000.00 scholarships. The applicant or parents must be a member in good standing of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, a permanent resident of Shelby County and must be pursuing a field of study in agriculture or an agriculture related field.

The Buffet Foundation will award five (5) $2,000 scholarships. The applicant or parents must be a member in good standing of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, a permanent resident of Shelby County and must be pursuing a field of study in agriculture or an agriculture related field.

The John Culumber Family will be giving away three (3) $1,000.00 scholarships through the Farm Bureau Foundation. Applicants for the Culumber Memorial Scholarship must be a higha school senior who resides in the Pana or Shelbyville School District and pursuing a field of study in agriculture or science education.

Shelby County Farm Bureau will be giving away ten (10) $1,000.00 Scholarships. The applicant or parents must be a member in good standing of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, a permanent resident of Shelby County and must be pursuing a field of study in agriculture or an agriculture related field.

Scholarship applications can be obtained at the Shelby County Farm Bureau office, Route 128 North, Shelbyville. Qualified applicants must complete an application; enclose a high school or college transcript, and a minimum of two letters of recommendation.

Formed in 2007, the Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation’s objective is to provide scholarships to outstanding students whose parents are reside in Shelby County, members in good standing of the Shelby County Farm Bureau and who are pursuing a field of study in agriculture or an agriculture related field.

Since the Foundation’s inception, over $81,000 in scholarships have been awarded to students in Shelby County. Scholarships will be awarded based on academics, scholarship and financial need, activities, self analysis and letters of recommendation.
