---- — Central A&M FFA Attends Answer Plot by Winfield

On Wednesday, September 25th, Central A&M FFA went to Van Horn, Inc. in Cerro Gordo for the Answer Plot put on by Winfield. The chapter learned about hybrids of seeds, how to check yields, the technology of agriculture, the job opportunities in the agriculture, and life long lessons. This was only the third Answer Plot event that Winfield has had. We got to look at the test plots that Van Horn had at the site and learn about them as well. Rebekah Nash, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Del Adcock, Shelby Sloan, Dean Adcock, Mo Hunter, Michelle Burrus, Lauren Burgener, Kyle Taylor, Maddie Cooper, Salena Sloan, Brock Burgener, Scott Myers, Lydia Cooper, Connor Mitchell, Ethan Woodard, Alli Kersin, and Jacob Hazlet attended this informational and learning experience.

CAM FFA Greenhand Quizbowl Team Places 1st

On Wednesday, October 16, 2013, the Central A&M FFA Quizbowl team traveled to Sullivan High School where they participated in the Section 16 FFA Greenhand Quizbowl CDE. Team members were Lauren Burgener, Maddie Cooper, Abby Forlines, Kylie Miller, and Kyle Taylor. The team placed first out of ten teams in the double elimination competition. The career development event quizzes students on their knowledge of FFA history and facts and information.

Central A&M FFA Attends Section 16 Leadership Training School

On Wednesday, September 18th, the Central A&M FFA Chapter visited Maroa-Forsyth School for Section 16 Leadership Training School. Lisa Parker, Rebekah Nash, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Del Adcock, Shelby Sloan, Dean Adcock, Abbey Burgener, Michelle Burrus, Lauren Burgener, Kyle Taylor, Maddie Cooper, Drake Grubb, Lydia Cooper, Kayleigh Postin, and Kylie Miller attended. While there, we listened to many speakers talk about their leadership experiences and what the agriculture field has available for job opportunities. All of the members took something away from this event.

Central A&M FFA Places 3rd at Section 16 Soil Judging CDE

On Wednesday, October 9th the Central A&M FFA participated in the Section 16 Soil Judging Contest which was hosted by Central A&M and held at Tim Wooters’ farm in rural Moweaqua. The soil judging team consisted of Lisa Parker, Del Adcock, Dean Adcock, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Rebekah Nash and Scott Myers. The team placed third overall with Del Adcock placing 9th overall and Scott Myers placing 10th overall. Great job to everyone and keep up the great work! Thank you so much to Tim Wooters for allowing us to come out to his farm and host the schools of Section 16 in a great contest! Thanks also to Gene Davis for being our official judge for the contest and to Josh Burgener for digging our pits out for us. We appreciate everyone’s help in making this event a success!

Central A&M FFA Visits the University of Illinois for Leadership Training School

On Wednesday, September 25th, Leadership Training School was held at the University of Illinois. First year members, greenhands, and the 2013-2014 officer team went to this event. Attending the training school, was Lisa Parker, Rebekah Nash, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Del Adcock, Shelby Sloan, Dean Adcock, Michelle Burrus, Lauren Burgener, Kyle Taylor, Maddie Cooper, Lydia Cooper, Kayleigh Postin, and Payton Sloan. While the chapter was there, they learned about leadership opportunities, bettering their chapter, and how to improve their own leadership skills. This was a great opportunity to learn more about themselves also. Events like these help the students grow their leadership skills, which are very important for FFA, but also in the real world.
