---- — Eight members of the Cowden-Herrick FFA Chapter attended the 86th National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, October 30 through November 1.

In attendance were (back from left) Alicia Adams, Matt Buchanan, Matt Richards, Bailey Rueff, Jacob Mays, Taylor Miller, (front from left) Malayne Seaton, and Taylor Reynolds, (not pictured) Advisor Mr. Wojcik, along with over 56,000 other FFA members from all over the country, including the Virgin Islands, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

While at the convention they attended two sessions, learning about leadership, personal growth, and success. Rick Pitino, the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Louisville, served as the keynote speaker in the first session, talking about pressure, and how to face a problem.

Also in the first session Dan Dunn a speed painter, and founder of “Paintjam,” created a masterpiece painting celebrating 80 years of the FFA jacket. In the second session Brennan Costello, the 2012-2013 National FFA Central Region Vice President gave a very motivational retiring address titled “How NOT to Ask a Girl to Dance.”
