Kindergarten, 1st grade Stew-Stras students celebrate Dr. Seuss Week

Shelbyville Daily Union

---- — The Kindergarten and first grade students at Stewardson-Strasburg Elementary kept busy and had fun reading with Dr. Seuss books all week.

Beginning on Monday, February 25, they read their first Seuss book “I Am Not Going to Get Up Today.” As part of the fun, kids were able to wear their pajamas to school that day and had writing activities and art activities centered around their colorful pajamas.

On Tuesday, the class was filled with hats. The famous book “The Cat in the Hat” was read and the kids were encouraged to wear hats that day.

Wednesday was by far the “wackiest” day of them all. The book “Wacky Wednesday” was featured and kids were encouraged to wear something wacky. “Green Eggs and Ham” was also read that day, and Mr. Haegen and his Kindergarten class opened up their own Seuss Café and served green eggs and ham to all the Kindergarten and 1st grade students.

On Thursday kids wore clothes representing what they would like to be when they grow up and the book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” was featured.

On Friday, students were encouraged to wear green to symbolize environmental awareness and the book “The Lorax” was read.

All in all, the kids had a great week of learning and fun.
