Cowden-Herrich registration July 31-Aug. 1

Cowden-Herrick School have established registration dates for the 2013-2014 school year. All students in grades K-12 are to complete final registration on either July 31 or August 1.

Registration on Wednesday, July 31, will be held at the Cowden-Herrick Elementary School in Herrick from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. On Thursday, August 1, registration will be held at Cowden Herrick Junior High/High School cafeteria in Cowden from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Book rental fees are due at registration. Book rental fees are $40 plus $50 for workbooks for grades K-12. Sports fee is $20 for the first sport and $20 for the second sport with $50 for maximum sport fee. Driver Education school fee is $100. There will also be student accident insurance for those families that are interested. More information can be found on our website at cowden-herrick.k12.il.us. Lunch and breakfast prices have changed. Lunch is $2.25 per day and breakfast is $1.25 per day.

Physical examinations are required for all students upon entrance into kindergarten or first grade and upon entrance into sixth and ninth grades. students new to the district must also present evidence of a complete physical examination when registering for their classes. Physical forms may be picked up at the school office. All student athletes going out for any sport must have their physicals before they can practice.

Dental exams are now required for students in K, 2nd, and 6th grades. Those forms are also available at the school office. The State of Illinois is now requiring all kindergarten students to have an eye exam by an optometrist. Those forms are also available in the school office.

Students in K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades, as well as all special education students, are required to have a vision and hearing test during the school year. These tests will be given by the Shelby County Health Department at the school and the fee for this service is $5. This fee may be paid at registration. (Make check to Cowden-Herrick C.U.S.D. 3A)
