The seventh workshop for Shelby County 4-H wrapped up on Tuesday, July 1. 4-H members learned the basics about flower arranging. Teri Whalen was the instructor for the class. Some of the basics the girls learned were: soaking the oasis (green part in the bottom of the arrangement), limiting your flower selection to three colors, follow the rule of odds – use an odd number of the main flower, and use greenery to fill in the holes.
The girls made Fourth of July centerpieces which had red carnations, white daisies and various types of greenery finished off with red, white and blue ribbon.
Shelby County 4-H thanks Teri for her time and expertise working with the 4-H’ers.
Flower arranging can be seen at the Shelby County 4-H & Jr Fair on July 14 at 3:00 in the 4-H Center.
