Central A&M FFA Attends Answer Plot by Winfield
On Wednesday, September 25th, Central A&M FFA went to Van Horn, Inc. in Cerro Gordo for the Answer Plot put on by Winfield. The chapter learned about hybrids of seeds, how to check yields, the technology of agriculture, the job opportunities in the agriculture, and life long lessons. This was only the third Answer Plot event that Winfield has had. We got to look at the test plots that Van Horn had at the site and learn about them as well. Rebekah Nash, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Del Adcock, Shelby Sloan, Dean Adcock, Mo Hunter, Michelle Burrus, Lauren Burgener, Kyle Taylor, Maddie Cooper, Salena Sloan, Brock Burgener, Scott Myers, Lydia Cooper, Connor Mitchell, Ethan Woodard, Alli Kersin, and Jacob Hazlet attended this informational and learning experience.
Central A&M FFA Visits the University of Illinois for Leadership Training School
On Wednesday, September 25th, Leadership Training School was held at the University of Illinois. First year members, greenhands, and the 2013-2014 officer team went to this event. Attending the training school, was Lisa Parker, Rebekah Nash, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Del Adcock, Shelby Sloan, Dean Adcock, Michelle Burrus, Lauren Burgener, Kyle Taylor, Maddie Cooper, Lydia Cooper, Kayleigh Postin, and Payton Sloan. While the chapter was there, they learned about leadership opportunities, bettering their chapter, and how to improve their own leadership skills. This was a great opportunity to learn more about themselves also. Events like these help the students grow their leadership skills, which are very important for FFA, but also in the real world.
Central A&M FFA Participates in Moultrie County Soil Judging
Central A&M FFA Chapter participated in the Moultrie County Soil Judging CDE on Thursday, September 26th. Lisa Parker, Rebekah Nash, Matthew Hardeman, Megan Zindel, Del Adcock, Dean Adcock, Lauren Burgener, Kyle Taylor, Maddie Cooper, Scott Myers, Lydia Cooper, and Abby Forlines were on the team. Lisa Parker was the first place individual overall and and Del Adcock was the 10th place individual overall. They spent the day judging the soil and learning more about soil judging. The team will compete in the Section 16 contest on Thursday, October 3rd.
