The Stewardson Lions Club will crown its 2009 Homecoming Queen at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15. This year there are four candidates vying for the title.

The contestants are:

Kaci Blythe, daughter of Kathy Blythe and Rick Blythe both of Stewardson, will be a junior at Stewardson-Strasburg High School where she received the school's pre-algebra award. Kaci participates in the high school band and is a member of the Strasburg Southern Baptist Church; additionally, she enjoys listening to music, baking cookies and cakes, and texting people. Kaci is planning a career as an OB nurse. She is sponsored by the Stewardson Corner store.

Kelsey Florida, a sophomore at Stewardson Strasburg, is the daughter of John and Peggy Florida of Stewardson. Kelsey practices cheerleading at Cayla's Power Tumbling of Effingham. She enjoys horseback riding, cheerleading, hanging out, texting, surfing the Internet, talking on the phone, and watching movies. Kelsey is undecided about her future plans but is considering becoming a pediatrician, or a forensic scientist, or possibly a dentist. Her sponsor is Auto Glass Unlimited.

Kayla Mummel, daughter of Kathy and George Mummel of Mode, will be a sophomore at Stewardson-Strasburg where she is a member of the business club, the drama club, and participates in volleyball and softball. She enjoys hanging out with friends, texting, listening to music, sports and fishing. Kayla's goal is to earn a degree in nursing. She is being sponsored by the Stewardson branch of Prairie National Bank.

Kathy Stodden is the daughter of James and Jacque Stodden of Stewardson. She will be a junior at Stewardson-Strasburg. She helps her parents, members of the Effingham Elks Lodge, raise money for children in need. Kathy enjoys hanging out with friends, spending time with her family, tractor pulls, ATV riding, horseback riding, and doing other outdoor activities. She is being sponsored by Jean Ashbaugh's State Farm Insurance Agency.

Besides representing the Stewardson Lions Club in local parades, the candidates are working hard helping with the sale of the club's raffle tickets.
