Breanna Davis and her father Brad said they hit the ground running on their trip to London, England.
“When we got to London, we were running because they had plenty of stuff for us to do,” said Brad Davis.
Breanna Davis a sophomore at Shelbyville High School was selected to be one of the more than 1,000 high school cheerleaders invited to march in the famous London New Year’s day parade. Her father Brad accompanied her as her chaperone. Breanna’s mother Kim Davis doesn’t fly so she did not make the trip.
Brad Davis said the first night they were there they were treated to a Broadway type show Legally Blond.
“Great performance and we didn’t get back to our room until 11 that night,” said Brad Davis.
They both agreed the jet lag didn’t really get to them, although Breanna said she was very tired the next morning.
“The first day we were there, I was so excited but then I went to bed and woke up the next morning and I was very tired,” said Breanna Davis.
They said the second day they separated from the crowd and went sightseeing on their own. They did the usual tourist type things such as shopping, and visiting the London Eye.
The London Eye is a giant observation wheel that looks like a ferris wheel but instead of seats, it has glass capsules. A complete turn takes about 30 minutes and most famous landmarks are visible.
Brad said he learned about the different ideas on food and drink on the first night.
“I asked for ice tea and they don’t have ice tea, so then I asked for lemonade, and it wasn’t lemonade,” said Brad Davis.
He said the best he could tell was they brought him soda water with a squirt of lemon.
“But the food was great”.
The next day they toured Windsor Castle. They went to the Hard Rock Cafe. They saw Buckingham Palace, and the Tower of London .
Breanna said the marching in the parade was fun. She said that day the sun came out and it was cold at first but when she got to marching she warmed up. She said the parade route was about three miles.
