Ring in Spring with Lake Land College's Annual Spring Concert

— Avoid the season's “stormy weather” at Lake Land College Community Choir's annual spring concert April 6 at 3 p.m. in the theatre. This concert marks the choir's 10th anniversary.
Music lovers will find familiar titles in a range of styles in the spring program. The choir will “bring out the Irish” in each listener with a set of folk songs including “Molly Malone (Cockles and Mussels).” Classic songs from the Great American Songbook include “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Route 66” and “Stormy Weather.”
Broadway fans will enjoy a medley of music by Richard Rodgers featuring favorites from “The Sound of Music,” “Carousel” and “Oklahoma!” Rounding out the program is selected music by today's outstanding choral composers.
Under the direction of Nancy Caldwell, music instructor, the Community Choir is a choir of mixed voices including students and staff from the college as well as members of surrounding communities such as Arcola, Casey, Charleston, Effingham, Greenup, Mattoon and Sigel. Daniel Cather of Greenup accompanies the choir. The Community Choir was formed in January of 1998 and performs two concerts annually.
The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow at Laker Point.
