Lake Land College is launching a new Power Plant Technology program, which prepares graduates to perform installation and maintenance functions on instrumentation and control equipment in electric utility power plants, and other related industries. The program is a partnership between Lake Land and St. Louis-based Ameren Corporation, one of the nation's largest investor-owned electric and gas utilities, with approximately $19 billion in assets, and Dynegy, which provides wholesale power, capacity and ancillary services to utilities, cooperatives, municipalities and other energy companies in 14 states, with revenues of more than $1.1 billon in 2007.

It will be held in the Lake Land College Theater, onWednesday, May 7 at11:30a.m

Representatives from Ameren and Dynegy, Lake Land administration and faculty from the technology division

Students will also be available for photos or video in the Electronics Lab

This program was initiated in 2006 when Lake Land College met with Ameren officials and learned about a need in the industry for power plant skilled craftsmen. Upon successful completion of the Power Plant Technology Program, students are prepared for entry-level employment in the utility industry as instrument control technicians or electrical repairmen in a power generation facility or related industry.
