Within the last ten days the Shelby County Sheriff’s office responded to a rural Cowden residence to take a battery complaint. The complaint was made against three females, two of whom are employed in the Shelby County Courthouse. One is employed in the State’s Attorneys Office.
“Because the complaint was made against two Shelby County employees, Sheriff Michael Miller has asked the Illinois State Police to handle the investigation and I have referred the matter to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office to determine what charges, if any, are warranted,” said Shelby County State’s Attorney Allan Lolie. “I have personally assured the complainant that the case will be handled like any other with the exception that the Attorney General’s Office will be in charge.”
“I have accepted my employee’s resignation effective immediately,” continued Lolie. Further comment would be inappropriate as the investigation continues and I have no involvement in this case.”
