Lake Land College Tech Prep and Office of Continuing Education will offer a non-credit course titled Health Career Camp for Young Men on June 4 and 5 at Lake Land College in Neal Hall. The camp is open to young men entering the 9th or 10th grade in the fall.
The class will be taught by Shelle Sloan, Lake Land College nursing instructor. The college's nursing students will assist. The students will learn about nursing and other health care careers though hands-on activities.
"Students will practice basic assessment skills and take a look into surgery," said Shelia Light, Tech Prep specialist at Lake Land College. "Students will also receive information about high school and college opportunities to help them reach their goal of a career in health care." All participants will receive a full scholarship to cover the cost through the Community Based Job Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
