Lady Rams challenge St. T

---- — The Shelbyville Lady Rams hosted St. Teresa on Thursday and took them to the limit.

Sophomore Autumn Carson scored a career-high 22 points in the near upset, scoring ten times from the field with 2-of-4 at the line.

She missed being the game-high scorer thanks to St. T’s leader, Quehl, who scored 30. She hit 14 buckets and made 2-of-5 free throws.

The Rams had two more players in double figures. Senior Lindsay Burton scored 15 with 3-of-7 at the line, while sophomore Grace Schuler scored 14, making 2-of-3 at the line. All three leading Rams are co-op players from Stew-Stras. St. T also had two more players in double figures. Cooper had 12 and Fyke 10.

The Rams competed in the 1st and trailed by just three at the end of the period, 14-11. Burton scored twice, Schuler scored twice and made a free throw, Schuler scored twice and Carson once. Quehl scored at will, six times.

The pace picked up in the 2nd with 36 points scored in the period. St. T edged Shelby 19-17. Schuler scored three times from the floor and was 2-of-3 at the line. Carson scored twice and Burton and Madison Boone scored once, each.

Olivia Williamson was 1-of-2 at the stripe. Quehl scored three more times for 18 points in the first half. Cooper scored three times and St. T led by five at the break, 33-28.

Shelbyville scored another 17 points in the 3rd, but again, St. T bested them, scoring 21.

Carson picked up her scoring, with three buckets and 1-of-2 at the line. Boone scored three times and Burton and Schuler once, each.

Quehl scored just six points, while Fyke had a pair of threes and a two. St. T had stretched their lead to nine points heading into crunch time, 54-45.

Shelby made a 17-11 run late and just came up short. Carson scored once, then converted a 3-point play.

She scored two more times for nine points with the game on the line. Burton made 2-of-3 free throws and scored twice. She and Carson had 15 of the 17 points.

Williamson had the other basket.

St. T got six more points from Quehl, but it was a bucket from Cooper, two free throws from Fyke and a1-of-2 from Johnson that provided the 3-point margin of victory for the Bulldogs.
