Reynolds praised Burton for her team-first attitude despite a rough four-year stretch at Shelbyville, where they’ve won 23 games in four seasons. She even sits on the bench for eighth-grade games at all three schools, encouraging the young players to keep up with the game and keep working hard.
Burton wanted to hit 1,000 points coming into the season, but didn’t want to stress out about if she didn’t reach it. With a few weeks left to go, she hit it Monday night.
She said this season has been fun, not because of their record or her milestone, but for the Rams’ first conference win in her time with Shelbyville, beating Argenta-Oreana.
“Overall, this whole season has been amazing,” she said. “We came together as a team, and for my senior year, it’s awesome.”
