Shelbyville Daily Union

---- — SHELBVYILLE, IL, --- Put on your best red dress or tie for Shelby Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (SMHF) fourth-annual Red Event, a night of entertainment, fun, friends and fund raising to benefit Cardiac Education, Rehabilitation and Treatment. The Red Event will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Spruce Street Studios in Shelbyville.

Guests will enjoy hypnotism and comedy in a fresh act by Dan Sanders as Hypno Dan. He brings a clean brand of comedy for all ages to the stage. Watch as he hypnotizes your friends and neighbors. His stage presence has been mesmerizing and entertaining audiences for twenty years with his distinctive brand of humor in almost every continental state in the union.

The reservation deadline is February 14th. Reservations are $55.00 per person or $400.00 for a table of eight. This price includes a buffet dinner with pork roast with cranberry sauce, chicken cordon bleu and dessert.

Another attraction to the evening will be a truly special silent auction which will feature many wonderful items for bidding. These include chances to purchase a tour for six of Lake Shelbyville on a captained yacht, two chances for four tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals, two tickets to the Chicago Cubs as they play the St. Louis Cardinals, a beautiful outdoor firepot from Niestradt’s Landscaping, or an opportunity to dine at local restaurants for a night on the town after enjoying season tickets at the Little Theatre in Sullivan. These and many other items await your bid.

The wait staff will work hard for tips, all of which will be donated to the SMH Foundation Red Event fund. Also planned are wine and beer sales for the guests from the Niemerg Family Winery in Findlay.

The Red Event was developed to honor those who have been affected by heart disease. This event supports local on-going education for cardiac wellness, helps sustain rehabilitation close to home, and through the use of diagnostics significantly impacts the risks of future cardiac events.

With your generous support, proceeds from this year’s event will be designated for the purchase of stress-testing equipment. This will help doctors detect symptoms or risk factors of coronary artery disease before a heart attack can strike.

In years past, the proceeds from the Red Event have helped SMH procure heart monitoring equipment and to expand the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center with all new exercise equipment.
