It was a crazy comeback for the Sullivan Lady Redskins as they won the Okaw Valley Holiday Tournament championship on Saturday, beating Clinton 71-70.

Sullivan started like gangbusters, turning the Maroons black and blue in the 1st with an 18-9 run. Clinton recovered and trimmed the Sully lead in the 2nd, but the ‘Skins still lead by four at the break, 32-28.

Clinton held on to the momentum out of the locker room and shot past Sully with a 16-10 run in the 3rd.

Down by two to start crunch time, 44-42. Sullivan needed to regain their mojo. They did, but Clinton tried a jailbreak and dared Sullivan to catch them.

Clinton broke out with a 26-point push down the stretch. But Sullivan nipped them at the wire with a 29-point 4th to grab the trophy.

Sullivan had balanced scoring with four players in double figures. Brittin Boyer scored 20 points, scoring six time from the floor and making 8-of-10 free throws.

Emily Stewart had 16, including 3-of-5 from the arc. Maggie Plank had 16, scoring six times from the floor and going a poerfect 4-of-4 at the line. Tournament MVP Emily Neuhauser scored 15 points, scoring seven times, once from the arc.

Clinton had the game-high scorer, Ginger, with 22 points and just two more players in double figures. Tool had 17 and Scott 10.

Free throws were key to the win. Sullivan made 13-of-17 shots and Clinton, just 5-of-8. Clinton had one more trey and two more deuces, but those Sully free throws tipped the scale.
