Awarded were Shelby County Sheriff’s Office investigator Rob McCall and Shelby County CADV (Committe Against Domestic Violence) volunteer Rebecca Austin.

During the ceremony candles were lit to remembers survivors and victims of domestic abuse. A special purple candle was lit in memory of Willow Long, the 7-year old Watson girl who was allegedly killed by her uncle in September. He is awaiting trial in Effingham County in the case.

“Although Watson is in Effingham County, we were all affected by the tragedy,” said Shelby County Dove director Susie Kensil. “There were Shelby County people who helped in the search, sent supplies, prayed and waited along with those in that community.”
