Moulton's Skowronski, Spain Win Monty

Shelbyville Moulton’s Ryan Skowrownski and Chloe Spain claimed the top spots at the Monticello Middle School Invitational last Saturday, while the Lady Rams, as a team, scored among the top teams in one of the top middle school meets in the Champaign area.

There were over 600 runners in the varsity and open races and Shelby’s Ryan Skowronski had the fastest time of the day, winning the boys varsity race in just 11:17.97. Chloe Spain had the fastest girls time, finishing in 13:00.09. Her time was faster than 115 of the boys times in the varsity race and faster than all 208 male runners in the open race.

The five scorers for the Lady Rams finished under 15:00 and packed within 1 minute and 52 seconds of each other. Ailey Mitchell followed Spain in team 26th (13:53.62), while Lauren Bowers was just four runners back in 30th (14:02.43). Elizabeth Bowyer (14:34.02) and Paige Coleman (14:51.50) rounded out the Lady Ram scorers in 47th and 54th, respectively.

The Moulton cross country team hosts the Shelbyville 2A Sectional on Saturday at Forest Park at 10 a.m. for a shot at competing at state.
