---- — Shelbyville girls tennis beat Springfield Lanphier a month ago at home. They went to Springfield on Monday and swept the season series with a 7-2 win.
“We have another win (6th),” said Ram coach Ryan Scott.
Coach Scott amended the singles line-up for this match and the Rams still took four of the six singles, before sweeping the three doubles matches.
Kayla Lee and Taylor Powers took the arrows in #1 and #2 singles, losing to the Lions best players. That allowed the #3-#6 Rams to roll to lopsided wins. Alexis Halbrook (#3) won 10-5, Julia Bolinger (#4) won 10-3, Rachel West (#5) won 10-6, and Courtney Large (#6) shutout her opponent, 10-0.
In doubles, sectional hopefuls Mykennah Allen and Alexis Halbrook continued their winning streak, taking #1 doubles, 8-4. Kayla Lee and Taylor Powers (#2) won another doubles match, 8-2, while Kaitynn Hopper and Rachel Sphar teamed up for an 8-3 #3 doubles victory.
Shelbyville was to travel Vandalia on Tuesday and Hillsboro on Thursday, before coming home for Senior Day on Monday, hosting Mattoon.
