Entrants sought for Shelby County pageants

---- — For the first time since 1999, Shelby County will beholding a Shelby County Fair Queen Pageant.

All young women aged 16-21 and residing within Shelby County are encouraged to apply. Contestants will be judged in the following areas: interview, swimsuit, evening gown, speech, and “People’s Choice” award. The winner will reign over the Shelby County Fair and will represent Shelby County at local and state events as well as competing in the Illinois Fair Queen Pageant to be held in January of 2015.

Additionally, for the first time, Shelby County will be holding a Junior Miss Shelby County Pageant. All girls who have completed grades 6-8 as of the end of the 2013-2014 school year are eligible for competition. Junior Miss contestants will be judged in the following areas: interview, personal introduction, casual wear, party dress, and “People’s Choice” award. The winner will reign over the Shelby County Fair and will represent Shelby County along with the Miss Shelby County pageant winner.

Pageant dates are anticipated to be in late June or early July with rehearsals to be held prior to the pageant. For additional information, please contact Pageant Director Sara Long at 217-821-7384.
