#1 Pentathlete Stringer ready for Nationals

Illinois College seniors Megan Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Central A&M) and Missy Norville (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) will head to North Central Collegein Naperville this weekend to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Stringer ranks first in the nation in the pentathlon with a top score of 3,345 points as she set personal records in all five events of the pentathlon. Her score was recorded at the Alumni Classic at Illinois College on February 15.

Norville will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, long jump and high jump. Stringer will compete in the pentathlon. Norville carries the top marks in all of Division III this season into the national meet. Her personal record in the long jump this season (21 feet, 1/2 inch) is the best in Division III indoor history. Her triple jump (41 feet, 7 inches) is the second-best in Division III history, and the best in 15 years. Her time in the 60-meter hurdles (8.61 seconds) is tied for the fourth-fastest all-time. All of Norville's top marks this season were set at the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, February 22-23.

"We are thrilled to have two student-athletes the caliber of Missy and Megan heading to nationals," said Illinois College Head Women's Track and Field Coach Rachel Rohn. "They are prime examples of what hard work and dedication can bring."

The Lady Blues enter the meet as the No. 3 women's team in the nation based largely on the success of Stringer and Norville.
