---- — The Daily Union Athletes of the Week stepped outside their usual haunts to find more success.

Eli Miller, senior sprinter from Shelbyville, and Taylor Adcock, senior sprinter and hurdler from central A&M had standout performances at their respective Charleston Indoor Meets and were invited to the Illinois Top Times Meets in Bloomington this past weekend.

Miller placed 2nd in the 55 meter dash at Charleston (6.64) a week ago. He followed that up at the Top Times Meet, “preseason state” by taking on the best in the state and placing 3rd in the 60 meter dash (7.14). He also placed 4th in the 200 meter dash (23.2).

Miller is a dual sport athlete that also pitched a win Thursday against Morrisonville, 11-4. Miller threw three hit-less innings and struck out eight.

Adcock, the state 300 hurdles champ from last spring, ran 2nd in the 55 dash at Charleston (7.42), 2nd in the 400 dash (1:01.58), 1st in the 55 hurdles (8.97) and was on the 4x4 relay. She was invited to the Top Times Meet.

At the state-level Top Times, Adcock placed 2nd in the 60 meter dash (7.88), 4th in the 400 (1:00.4) and 3rd in the 60 meter hurdles (9.43). She also was on the 4th place 4x4 (4:13).

Eli Miller is the son of Kevin and Nancy Miller of Shelbyville. Taylor Adcock is the daughter of Robert and Sherry Adcock of Moweaqua.
