---- — Central A&M never gave up, but the Shelbyville Rams finally emerged from the 3-game set with a win on Thursday, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23.

In games 2 and 3 the match came down to the final couple of points. In game 2, A&M broke a 22-22 tie and got the win. In game 3, Shelby broke a 22-22 tie and got the win and the match.

“A&M played so hard the whole match,” said Ram coach Lisa Peifer. “They fought back both the 2nd and 3rd games from 12-18 to tie it at 22. I felt we let up the 2nd game when we should have gone after them.”

Madison Boone had the single best match of the season in the Shelby Area. Boone swung for 19 kills and rose for 3 blocks for 22 net points.

“The biggest problem for them was stopping Maddy Boone,” Coach Peifer said. “We also got great service runs from Lindsey (Eigsti) and Rachel (Fox).

Eigsti and Fox racked up 19 service points, each. Fox had three aces, Eigsti one. Eigsti also dished out 13 assists, half the team assists.

Boone was also a leader at the line with 14 points and two aces. Not only was great at the line and at the net, she led the Rams in mid-court defense with 15 digs, earning her a triple-double.

Ryann Ambrose had just one kill, but it was a shot heard around the world.

“Ryann Ambrose came in and took one of the best swings of the night at a crucial point in the match,” Coach Peifer said. “The JV and fresh-soph teams were great support and it was a fun match to watch. It was a total team effort.”

A&M swung for 22 kills, barely out-hitting Boone by herself. Shelby had 37 kills total. However, the Raiders had a team-effort, block party in the close 3 game set, recording 12 team blocks.

Kylie Burcham rose for four blocks, Kaley Hennings three, and Morgan Damery two. Ryan Dooley, Mikah Maples, and Paige Seitz added one, each. Shelby had eight blocks, three from Claudia Watson and three from Boone.
