Daily Union Athletes of the Week have been giving their teams chances to win.
On Saturday, Shelbyville sophomore Marcus Skinner placed 5th at the St. Joe cross country meet against almost 150 runners, to lead the Rams to a 2nd place finish. He ran a 15:14 placing him 5th on the all-time list for the Rams. He helped the Rams to a faster finish than last year’s winning team, that went on to place 3rd at state.
Mykennah Allen has been taking arrows as the Ram #1 tennis singles player, but still has two recent singles wins over Eisenhower and Paris. She also has five straight #1 doubles wins, after taking 5th in doubles in the big Mattoon Invite. She and Alexis Halbrook have beaten Southeast, Mt. Zion, Eisenhower, MacArthur, and Lanphier.
Meanwhile Taylor Jordan, the true Central A&M libero, is one of the premier liberos in the area. She led A&M with 10 digs v. Meridian, followed by 18 digs v. Clinton and 18 digs v. Shelbyville. She added 30 digs on Saturday at the Arcola Invite.
