Little Free Library open in Stewardson

Little Free Library #8504 is open for business at 311 South Pine in Stewardson, IL. The library stewards are Cary & Barb Storm. Their library is located in the northwest corner of their gorgeous yard. Stop by for a book and stay for landscaping advice! Built by local woodworker, Larry Schultz, this library has the look of a log cabin. Barb says she always wanted to live in a log cabin, but never wanted the maintenance. Now Barb has the small log cabin she’s dreamed of and none of the upkeep.

The Little Free Library movement started in Wisconsin in 2010. Since then, it has become an international sensation with little free libraries popping up in urban and rural areas. Little Free Libraries promote literacy and the love of reading and foster a sense of community and connection. The Little Free Library website has a Google map with all the little libraries located by coordinates on it, go to www.littlefreelibrary.org to see the Storm’s #8504.

The idea behind these libraries is “take a book, bring a book”. If you see a book you would like to read in #8504, take it. After you’ve read the book, pass it on to a friend or another little library. You can donate books to little libraries and pay it forward. The stewards keep their libraries stocked with books and magazines that interest them or their readers’ favorites and their customers bring books to share with others. If you don’t have a book to share, not to worry, please come and take a book anyway.
