T'Wolves take LSA Lions

State golfer Paige Harlin teed off on LSA on Monday, scoring 29 points and leading the Okaw Valley Timberwolves over the LSA Lady Lions, 61-45.

A 3rd period 16-4 Okaw run was another the difference in the ball game in the 16-point win. Okaw’s mastery from the arc (8 treys) produced 27 points. The arc-less Lions got zero. LSA did get to the line with a 19-of-38 advantage (50%). Okaw made just 10-of-29 (34%).

Okaw scored four field goals in the 1st, all from long distance. Arc angel Paige Harlin had two and Amy Orris and Abigail Weybright one, each Harlin also made 1-of-2 at the line. LSA took the 1st, however, with four twos and getting to the line, 6-of-10, leading 14-13.

Okaw claimed the 2nd, 13-11, and took a 1-point lead at the break. Harlin scored three more times with two more triples and a deuce. Weybright had another bomb from downtown and Amanda McClain got on the board with a two. Okaw missed all 12 free throws in the quarter. LSA had just one bucket, but went to the line again, making 9-of-16. Okaw led at the break, 26-25.

Okaw broke open the game with a 16-4 run out of the locker room. Harlin scored twice inside the arc, McClain scored twice, and Shelby Dash and Mollee Decesaro scored once, each. Amy Orris connected again from the arc and split a pair at the line. LSA had just two buckets from Sierra Taylor, her only points of the game. The rest of LSA disappeared and they trailed by 13 heading into the 4th, 42-29.

Down the stretch, LSA pushed for 16 points, but Okaw stayed a pace ahead, scoring 19. Harlin scored 10 of her 29 points in the 4th. She had a deuce and a trey and made 5-of-7 at the line. Orris scored twice and destinee Nave once. Weybright had a pair of free throws and Dash split a pair at the line.
