---- — Stew-Stras with a little divine intervention, gutted out a homecoming Hatchet Game win last week in overtime. But on Tuesday, Arthur came to Comet Country and planted their flag in victory in a rout, 64-33.

Athletes of the Week, Brandon Helmuth and Jason Fry had 28 and 26 points, respectively in their home opener. Arthur held Helmuth to just 12 points and Fry to just three points in the blowout on Tuesday and allowed less than half the points over the Comet win last week.

Meanwhile Arthur had balanced scoring. They had three players with 11 points, Schrock, Jeremy Plank, and Colton Yeakley, one with nine points, Curtis Plank, and two with eight points, Schuring and the other Schrock.

Neither Helmuth or Fry scored in the 1st period, missing 5-of-5 from the field and going 0-of-2 from the line. Bryse Bugger and Austin Rincker had solo twos and Mark Jones a trey, while Arthur sank four triples, two deuces and 1-of-3 from the line for a 17-7 lead.

In the 2nd, Helmuth got on track, scoring 6-of-his 12 points. Fry split a pair at the line. Ted Kessler scored from the floor and made both of his free throws. Arthur scored eight times from the floor, once more from downtown in a 17-11 run. Arthur led by 16 points at the break, 34-18.

The half-time break didn’t solve anything for the Comets. Arthur came out with an 18-9 run in the 3rd. They scored seven times from the floor, six from Yeakley, and made Arthur made all four of their free throws. Bugger scored twice for Stew-Stras, while Fry and Helmuth had solo twos and Helmuth 1-of-2 at the stripe, to trail by 25 points heading into the final frame, 52-27.

Arthur stayed on pace in down the stretch and finished scoring almost twice as many points as the Comets. Arthur had a final 12-6 run. They had two twos and two more treys, plus two free throws. Stew-Stras got a trey from Jacob Kramer and a 3-point play from Helmuth before they bowed at the buzzer.

Arthur out-scored Stew-Stras 57 to 28 from the field, with seven triples to the Comets two. Free throws were not a factor. Stew-Stras made just 5-of-14, while Arthur made 7-of-9.
