6th annual Chris Barker Tractor Drive travels to Strasburg, Hidden Springs areas
Tractor enthusiasts will take to the back roads of rural Shelby County on Sunday, June 8 for the 6th Annual Chris Barker Memorial Tractor Drive and Show.
The friends and family of Chris Barker hope to draw 100 tractors of all colors to Shelby County for a scenic drive in the Strasburg and Hidden Springs State Park areas.
Registration for the drive will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Strasburg Community Building, 105 E. Commercial Street, Strasburg. A free will donation will be accepted for registration to support the Chris Barker Memorial Scholarship perpetuated through the Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation.
The 2014 offers a long and short route for tractors of varying speeds. Spectators are welcome to view the tractors as they arrive at Hidden Springs State Park at approximately 10 a.m. or as the tractors return to Strasburg at approximately 12 p.m. Tractors will be on display until 1 p.m.
Lunch will be served by the Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship winners and catered by Terry Warren, Sullivan, Illinois. The menu includes choice of a pork chop or chicken breast sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, ice cream and a drink. A free will donation will be collected for lunch for anyone wishing to attend.
A silent auction will be held with items generously donated from local businesses. The proceeds from the tractor drive benefit and perpetuate the Chris Barker Memorial Scholarship fund through the Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation.
