George Earl Kroninger, 95, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Cowden, passed away March 28, 2013, at McKinley Park Nursing Home in Sacramento.
Masonic services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden, with memorial services immediately following. Rev. Lynette DeAtley will officiate. Flag presentation will be by the Shelby County Honor Guard.
He was born May 10, 1917, in Cowden then son of Everett Earl and Grace (Beck) Kroninger. He married Mary Elizabeth Bilskemper November 3, 1980.
He served in the US Navy during WW II and was employed at the Nickel Plate Railroad, Army Depot in Decatur and a civil employee for the Navy in California. He was a member of the Cowden Masonic Lodge, American Legion and VFW in California and the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary of Mahomet, sons, Larry of Missouri, Duane (Nick) of Shelbyville, Bradley Joe and Steve Allen of California; stepchildren, Benny Leroy Dow of Mahomet and Mary Elizabeth (Dow) Ward of St Elmo; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Rosella Shipley and Carolyn Dunaway, step-son, Charles William Dow, step-daughters, Marge (Matmiller) Seely and Beverley (Matmiller) Dilley and three sisters.
