Lakers home meet success


Meredith Chambers (6&U) also scored a win in the 25 meter backstroke (37.35). Alexis Jokisch made it #1, #2 in the 25 meter back, taking 2nd (39.33). Chambers, Jokisch, and their teammates also won the Girls 6&U 100 meter freestyle relay (Jokisch, Ashlyn Behl, Sara Tynan) 3:59.78. The same girls were 2nd in the 8&U 100 medley relay (3:44.00).

The other 1st place Shelbyville finish went to Macy Owens, Ella Tynan, Anna Tynan, and Abigail Kaiser in the Girls 8&U 100 Free (2:09.35).

Former Shelby swimmers, who did well on Saturday, are swimming for SBD, a year-round program.

Noah Spain (8&U) won the 25 meter freestyle (22.0), won the 25 meter butterfly (25.91), and won the 25 meter backstroke (26.82). Gabrielle Spain (10&U) won the 50 meter freestyle (42.38), was 2nd in the 50 meter butterfly (50.0), was 2nd in the 10&U 200 medley (Mackenzie Erixon, Deanna Clark, Gabrielle Spain, Alyssa Shriver) 3:51.88, and was 2nd in the 12&U 200 Free (G. Spain, Ailey Mitchell, Jessica Renfro, Calista Clark) 2:41.83.

McKenna Kull (30.04) and Allison Oligschlaeger (33.83) went #1, #3 in the 12&U 50 Free. Kull also won the 50 Fly (34.86), won the 50 Back (35.76), followed in 3rd by Sydnie Helton (44.61). Emily Oligschlaeger won the Girls 8&U 25 Back (26.16). Kull, Oligschlaeger and Helton also were on the 2nd place 12&U 200 Medley (3:34.78).

This Saturday, July 20th, the Lakers head to Sholem Aquatic Center in Champaign for their last regular season meet. They are also participating in the Shelbyville Athletic Fundraiser at the Football Field. The Lakers will have a dunk tank featuring various community members, passing out balloons, and information for next year’s swim team. The Conference meet is Saturday, July 27 at Charleston.
