Shelby Jr. Legion blanked

Macon County Legion’s starting pitcher threw a 3-hit shutout, striking out eight, and blanked Shelby Jr. Legion on Saturday, 3-0.

Shelby had six base runners, but couldn’t get them home. Mark Jones and Nic Hutchinson walked in the 1st. Tristan Warner and Derek Moschenrose had back-to-back singles in the 2nd, but were stranded with Warner on 3rd. Blake Nichols singled in the 5th and Dylan Ohnesorge walked in the 6th with no scores.

Macon County scored enough for the win in the 3rd with a a double and two singles, 2-0. Another double in the top of the 7th, an error and a grund-out RBI added an insurance run.

Mark Jones went the distance for Shelby County, giving up five hits and two walks in seven innings and took the loss.

Shelby Jr. Legion is set to play in the Mattoon Firecracker tournament Monday through Wednesday.
