Young Farmers hosting children's activities during 4-H Fair

The Shelby County Young Farmers will be hosting three children’s activities on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Shelby County 4-H & Jr. Fair in the Show Arena beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The 8th Annual Cutest Little Farmer contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. for boys and girls ages 1 to 3 years-old. Children dressed as a farmer will parade around the 4-H Show Arena for the crowd.

The Young Farmers Committee will award six $50 cash prizes from the entries.

Money in the Straw will be held at 7 p.m. for children ages 1 to 3 years-old. Children can hunt for quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies and more in a straw pile. Over $50 will be buried in the straw.

The last event of the night is the ever popular Pedal Pull for children ages 4-7 years old.

Four classes of pedal pullers will try their hardest to pedal the tractor and pull the weighted sled the farthest for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.

As a Grand Prize, all pedal pull contestants will have their names put into a drawing for a John Deere pedal tractor of their very own.

All three events are free of charge. For more information, contact the Shelby County Farm Bureau at 217-774-2151 or shelbycofb@consolidated.net
