Lake facilities closing due to cold temperatures

Lake Shelbyville - Due to low overnight temperatures, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers started the winterization process on facilities. Facilities being winterized include all fish cleaning stations and restrooms. More specifically the fish cleaning stations and restrooms at the Corps managed boat ramps (Dam West, Opossum Creek, Coon Creek, Lone Point, Whitley Creek, Wilborn Creek, Bo Wood, Lithia Springs) and Spillway East. The restrooms at the following recreation area will be closing also: Dam West, Spillway West and Dam East.

Winterizing facilities is important to prevent damage from freezing temperatures that may occur to water lines above and below the ground. At this time courtesy docks will remain in the water at the boat ramps, however during the winter months docks are taken out to avoid damage from ice and cold temperatures.
