SCHD to offer Flu/Pneumonia clinics in September

The Shelby County Health Department will have Influenza and Pneumonia vaccination clinics for adults ages 19 and older on Friday, September 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the health department.

In addition the Health Department will have Influenza and Pneumonia vaccination clinics for adults at the following locations and times:

Sept. 9 - Windsor Community Bldg., 10 -11 a.m.; Sigel Township Bldg., 1-2 p.m.

Sept. 10 - Lake Towers (residents only), 11-11:30 a.m.; Senior Citizen Center, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Sept. 11 - Moweaqua American Legion, 10-11 a.m.; Findlay Community Bldg, 1-2 p.m.

Sept. 16 - Stewardson Community Bldg., 10:30-11:30 a.m.; Strasburg Community Bldg., 1-2 p.m.

Sept. 17 - Herrick Community Bldg., 9-10 a.m.; Cowden Community Bldg., 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Sept. 19 - Tower Hill Lions Club, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; Oconee American Legion, 1-2 p.m.

The Center for Disease Control recommends Pneumonia vaccination for all people 65 years and older. A booster is required if you were vaccinated before the age of 65. To be protected, people need vaccinated for influenza yearly. Guidelines recommend routine influenza vaccination for all people 6 months of age and older.

The health department is a Medicare participating provider and will accept Medicare and Medicaid payment in full for Flu and Pneumonia vaccinations. Please bring you Medicare and/or Medicaid card to the clinics. The cost is $38 for a Flu vaccinations and $95 for a pneumonia vaccination if you are not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. No one will be denied a Flu vaccination for inability to pay.
