W/SS softball outlasts T'town in 13

Windsor/Stew-Stras junior high softball co-op went to T’town in 100 degree heat on Friday and outlasted the Shoes, 8-6, in 13 innings. On Saturday, W/SS was bested by Sullivan in 7 innings, 7-4.

Calla Roney did yeomen work pitching 10 innings in the heat and allowing just four hits, three walks and two earned runs, while striking out 12. Megan Schlechte came on in relief for three innings and gave up just one unearned run, allowing no hits or walks and striking out two.

W/SS out-hit T’town 15 to 4, including two doubles, but could only get half their base runners across. T’town made the most out of errors and few free passes or hits to stay in the game.

W/SS took a 1-0 lead in the 1st and went up 3-0 in the 3rd. Teutopolis came back with two runs. Windsor went up 5-2 in the 5th, but Teutopolis got those runs back in the 6th and trailed 5-4. Teutpolis knotted the score with a solo run in the bottom of the 7th to put the game in extra-innings.

Windsor took a 6-5 lead in the 11th innnig, but Teutopolis matched it in the bottom of the frame. In the 13th, Windsor scored two more runs and this time Teutopolis couldn’t respond.

W/SS had eight batters hit safely. Carson Cole led W/SS with four hits and Katrina davis had three. Roney had a double and scored three of the eight runs, while Taylor Renfro had a double and scored two runs.
