---- — Lake Shelbyville - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is excited to announce the next installment of its Artist-in-Residence program. A collection of ceramics and drawings, all crafted by Anthony Treadway, of Shelbyville, are currently on display in the exhibit hall of the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center. The exhibit includes over thirty pieces of pottery with unique glazes, stamped designs, and painted motifs, and several drawings of local fish species. All of the works on display were inspired by the artist’s interest in local history, archaeology, and the great outdoors.

A native of Robinson, Anthony Treadway has been a practicing artist for over thirty years, since completing his formal training at the University of Evansville and Eastern Illinois University. He has participated in art shows and received numerous awards from competitions throughout the Midwest. Treadway’s interest in Illinois archaeology has greatly influenced his work with pottery. The artist has recently moved to the area and plans to open a gallery in downtown Shelbyville. Anthony Treadway can be reached via email at 63tonyt@gmail.com.

In addition to Treadway’s works, a travelling Civil War exhibit from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum will be on display the entire month of August. The exhibit, entitled “To kill and to heal: Weapons and Medicine of the Civil War,” tells the fascinating story of disease and the efforts of medical personnel around the country during the war. The panels are on display in the Visitor Center lobby.

To view these fantastic exhibits, come to the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center. The Visitor Center is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. For additional information, contact the Lake Shelbyville Interpretive Services and Outreach Department at 217-774-3951 ext. 2, or email lakeshelbyville@usace.army.mil.
