Delbert Lenz announced his intention to seek election to the office of Shelby County Clerk and Recorder while releasing the following statement:
“I want to give the residents of Shelby County the opportunity to elect their county officials, as opposed to merely obtaining the office by appointment. I encourage voters to head to their polling places and fill out their ballots on March 18 for the Democratic Primary Election. If elected to the office of Clerk and Recorder, I would act as the general record keeper for Shelby county. This office is responsible for overseeing election processes, tax extensions, vital records, land transfers, and accounts payable for the county.
“Aside from giving a general overview of the office, I would also like to take this opportunity to give voters some information about myself. I have been a resident of Shelby County for my entire life and am a graduate of both Shelbyville High School and Lake Land College. I have a strong background in retail agriculture, as I have worked in the industry for over 30 years. Aside from my professional life, my personal life revolves around my children and the St. John’s Lutheran Church, where I serve as a member of the church council. I am already an experienced public servant, as I was elected Shelbyville #5 Democrat Precinct Committeeman while also serving as treasurer for the Shelby County Democratic Central Committee.
“With your support, I will serve this office with integrity, respect, and fiscal responsibility.”
