Nine inducted to SHS National Honor Society

The annual induction ceremony for the Shelbyville High School Chapter of the National Honor Society was held Tuesday, November 2 at the First Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall. New members who were inducted include: Michael Beardsley, Jessie Denning, Rachel Fox, Ben Houska, Megan Overbeck, Hannah Shuff, Ryan Stenger, Matthew White and Molly Yockey.

To be eligible for membership students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.67 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, members must meet high standards of leadership, service, and character. Members of the junior and senior classes were evaluated by the high school faculty with final selection being made by the N.H.S. Faculty committee.

New members were welcomed by their families and the current members : Mykennah Allen, Hannah Apple, Julia Bolinger, Kayla Brachbill, Jensen Cloe, Lindsey Eigsti, Josh Foster, Monica Griesemer, Rachel West and Becca Wheeler. All enjoyed a catered meal. The evening ended with an update on the chapter’s events given by member Rachel West. Events include the fall and spring candy bar sales, a Bake Sale at the Fall Play November 15-16, the LEAD Conference in Chicago in February, the annual dance for the 50+ crowd in March, Trivia Night and Leadership Week in April and Teacher Appreciation week activities in May. The chapter also is continuing its paper recycling program at all the schools in the district. The members of the chapter would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families and the community for supporting us in our endeavors.
