Area foursome pitches Danville

---- — Shelby Area pitchers took their leave of the Shelbyville Horseshoe Courts to dive into the horseshoe pits at the 25th Annual Danville Open recently and swam among the sharks at the 150 plus pitcher sanctioned tournament with mixed results.

George Huntington competed in the A Class Senior division. Dale Westendorf competed in C Class Division. Bill Koons competed in the D Class Division. Dorothy Hack competed in the N Class Division.

Huntington brought a ringer percentage of 66%. Huntington finished the weekend with a record of 3-6, despite still throwing a ringer percentage of 61%.

Westendorf brought a ringer percentage of 56%. He finished the weekend 2-5 in 7th placed, despite still throwing a 45% ringer percentage during the competition.

Koons brought a ringer percentage of 47% into the competition and almost matched that, throwing 46%. He finished in 4th place with a winning record of 4-2.

Hack brought a 22% ringer percentage into Danville and finished in 5th place. She went just under .500 at 3-4 on the weekend throwing 19% ringers.

After surviving the Danville Open, the adventurers were to return to action on Thursday at SHC for the weekly tournament.

The Shelbyville Horseshoe Club pitches weekly tournaments every Thursday night beginning about 7 p.m. at their courts across the railroad tracks from the corner of North 12th Street and North Morgan in Shelbyville. Local guests and visitors to Lake Shelbyville are welcome.
