Mary Madeline (Hall) Ransdell, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away at 12:00 noon Sunday May 11, 2008, in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.

Mary was born Sept. 14, 1916, near Cowden, IL, in Fayette Co., the daughter of E.W. and Samantha Maude Backensto Hall.

She married Kelso Ransdell in Arkansas in 1951 and he passed away in 1969.

Mrs. Ransdell retired from Sangamon Paper Co. in Taylorville and formerly worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou Corporation and Hygrade Food Products both in Shelbyville. Formerly, she was an Avon Representative and was the Taylorville distribution manager for the Illinois State Journal Register newspaper. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She loved her family and after retirement she took great joy from her home and looking after all of her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children: daughter Gloria Brunk and husband Delmar of Shelbyville and son Terry Ransdell and wife Christine of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Kathy Biddlecomb and husband James, Donna Johnson and husband Sam, Eric Brunk and wife Michelle, Sarah Ransdell and Kelsey Ransdell; great grandchildren: Derek Milleville, Darin Milleville, Natalie Biddlecomb and Mackenzie Brunk; sister Imogene Ekiss of Signal Mountain, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kelso, her parents, and sisters: Opal Ashcraft, Illa Ransdell and Janice Reider; brothers: Ralph Hall, Robert Hall, Clyde Hall, Vern Hall and Claude Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday May 14, 2008 in Lockart Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Rev. David McHenry will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of the service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Taylorville.
